Thanks to the AWD on the 2018 Subaru Legacy Near New Orleans, LA, the midsize sedan is sensible for those who live in rainy or snowy climates. However, its available safety and tech features have universal appeal. Even if someone lives in a sunny paradise, the Legacy’s blend of features and interior room make it a good choice. Read on to learn why we think the new Legacy is such a good buy.

New for 2018
Having undergone a major redesign, the 2018 legacy has new rear and front styling, a higher-quality interior, an upgraded 6.5” display, and a better AC system. The Legacy has been returned for smooth acceleration, a more comfortable ride, sportier steering, and reduced cabin noise.
Our Suggestions
While the base model’s enough for most buyers, we recommend at least the Premium trim. It has most of the features drivers need and want, such as a power adjustable driver’s seat, heated seating, dual climate controls, and an upgraded 8” touchscreen. Be sure to check out the EyeSight system with its important and useful safety aids.
Engines and Trims
The 2018 Legacy is a midsize, five-passenger sedan that has two engine options and five different trims: the 2.5i, the Premium, the Sport, the Limited, and the 3.6R Limited. All 2.5i models put out 175hp and 174 lb. ft. of torque, while the 3.6R Limited offers 256hp and 246 lb. ft. of torque. All 2018 Legacy models have a CVT (continuously variable transmission) and AWD.
Braking, Steering, and Handling
The 2018 Subaru Legacy near New Orleans, LA has strong braking performance, stopping in only 114 feet with standard tires. The car’s steering is intuitive and properly weighted, and it feels perfectly natural when in action. This year’s legacy turns into the corners quite nicely, but not quick enough that it feels abrupt. While the Legacy isn’t classed as a sport sedan, its road manners are easy enough that it will appeal to most drivers.
Comfort
Front and rear seat comfort is above average, and we were particularly impressed with the grippy, soft cloth upholstery. The cabin is quieter than in previous generations, which adds to the overall comfort of the ride.
Interior
The cabin of the 2018 Subaru Legacy is surprisingly airy. There’s ample passenger room, and the slimmed-down roof pillars offer increased visibility. Because of the spacious trunk, cargo volume is generous, and there are numerous compartments and pockets to hold the driver’s and passengers’ belongings. There’s a front bin with a security door, and the compartment near the gearshift can easily hold a wallet and phone. Rear seating is split in a 60/40 configuration, with a trunk-mounted release.
· Getting in and out is easy thanks to the high roofline and wide door openings. The Legacy’s rear doors are somewhat long, and the sloping roof is only a problem for the tallest rear-seat passengers.
· There’s ample elbow room and headroom. For the front seat passengers, the armrest is wide and plush. Rear seat foot room is generous, as is legroom.
· The windows are tall all around the car, and the windshield pillars are quite narrow.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2018 Legacy has received a slight makeover, mostly in the grille area. The grille is now styled with horizontal lines and a Subaru logo; while it’s slightly sportier, it still sits squarely in the conservative styling realm.
Tech
With the large standard touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, the 2018 Legacy also has Bluetooth connectivity and apps that work via smartphone data connection. If a driver simply doesn’t want to bother with keys, they’ll like the PIN entry feature, which allows them to leave their keys behind and gain access by entering a passcode on the car’s door.
Safety
This year’s Legacy comes with a list of safety features, from ABS and traction controls to side curtain airbags, auto headlights and a backup camera. Available safety features include forward collision alert, automatic braking, rear cross traffic alerts, and a blind spot warning system. The NHTSA gave the Legacy its top five-star rating in every category, including side, rollover, and front impact testing. The IIHS gave it the Top Safety Pick designation, which is only given to cars that receive perfect scores on all crash tests.
The 2018 Subaru Legacy Near New Orleans, LA is a great midsize sedan, and as we said earlier, we recommend the 2.5i Premium edition. It’s worth every bit of the price difference over the base model, and it offers plenty of features as standard equipment.
