Much to Look Forward To

For this iteration, there are many new features implemented that should get you excited about the prospect of owning one. For example, interior cabin space in the 2017 Outback Touring has been found to be much more comfortable as compared to other compact SUVs. It’s also been designed ergonomically, which makes movement going in and out a lot easier.

Safety is also a strong suit, as well as off-road abilities that should be warmly welcomed by those looking for a more enjoyable weekend adventure.

New Touring Trim Level

The biggest change for this iteration is the arrival of the Outback Touring trim level. It features customized interior and exterior trim that already sets it apart by appearance alone from the other style versions.

Here, you’ll be getting alloy wheels as a standard option, while the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology package comes optional. With this, you’ll be getting automated high beam headlight control and reverse automatic braking, among others.

Engine Specs

For the 2.5i trims, you’ll be driving with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that comes up with 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy, meanwhile, is rated at 25 for city, 32 for highway, and 28 mpg for combined.

If you think you’ll need more engine power than that, then you can opt for the 3.6R trims. Here, you’ll be getting a 3.6-liter box cylinder with 256 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque instead. EPA rates its fuel economy at 20 for city, 27 on highway, and 22 mpg combined. CVT and all-wheel drive are also standard here.

Safety Features

When it comes to safety, your vehicle of choice should be able to give you enough security that it will be able to function well to avoid accidents, but also, that it could react well enough to at least mitigate the harm that may be inflicted on you.

For the 2017 Subaru Outback, you get a multitude of airbags, from the front to the sides, and even on seat cushions. Rearview camera is standard so that you can have a much easier time backing up into the right parking slot. No more turning around or second-guessing the view from your rear and side mirrors just so you can get it right.
