Subaru takes the cake again at safety: the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has cited the automaker's Legacy and Outback models for its Top Safety Pick Plus prize. This recognition reaffirms the brand's reliability, as it garners the most IIHS Top Safety Pick titles. Cars.com reporter Matt Schmitz writes for USA Today.

And the redesigned 2015 Legacy and Outback both improved their ratings to good from their predecessors' acceptable score in the institute's stringent small overlap front crash test, which approximates what happens when a vehicle strikes a tree or utility pole.

In addition, the cars earned superior ratings for front crash prevention when equipped with the optional EyeSight forward collision warning system with autobrake, which stopped the vehicle completely at both 12 and 25 mph during testing.
To earn a Top Safety Pick Plus award, a vehicle must earn a good or acceptable rating for small overlap protection, as well as good ratings in the institute's moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as a basic, advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.

Baton Rouge Subaru dealerships allow you to better appreciate the 2015 Legacy and Outback as premier vehicle choices for reliability. With extensive product information and knowledgeable sales agents, you can check the specifications and features of the said cars, such as:

An Improved AWD

The redesigned cars come with strong stability control and traction, which contribute to their stellar safety ratings. Whether you drive on freeways or on rougher terrains, the models can seamlessly adjust their performance.

Better Power and Fuel Economy

The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engines (and 3.6-liter 6-cylinder machines for limited editions) make the Legacy and Outback truly high-performance cars. Not only have their respective sizes gotten a tad roomier; their new, streamlined profiles, aluminum hood, and active grill shutters also improve fuel efficiency.

The Trademark EyeSight® System

One of the things that make these car models the safest in their class is their optional EyeSight® system. Utilizing a couple of small cameras, the enhanced driver-assist system gives you optimal cruise control, sensitive lane departure warning, and pre-crash brake signals.

A Cozy Cabin

To top it all off, the roomy, comfortable interiors of both the Legacy and the Outback give you a smooth and comfortable ride. Visit the showrooms of Subaru dealerships in Baton Rouge and others, such as Covington's Baldwin Subaru, to check out these vehicles and find out why they are keepers for you and your family.
