Subaru has become a popular car brand in recent years, considering its rather thin but highly praised lineup. The brand is especially preferred by first-time buyers who have, incidentally, managed to propel the brand to the top. If you seek an introduction to the brand, then you might want to head on over to top New Orleans, LA Subaru dealerships that offer a selection of celebrated models including the Forester and Outback-such as Covington's premier auto service center, Baldwin Subaru.
Subaru cars are by no means favored only by starting drivers. The WRX and STI models, in particular, are fine examples of advanced automobile engineering that compel a second look among avid racers. The Los Angeles Times recently reviewed both models and was impressed with the engines:
"The STI soldiers on with the previous generation's 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, making 305 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. Its zero-to-60 mph time clocks in at 5.1, according to Subaru.
Meanwhile, the WRX has a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine. Pulled from duties in the Forester crossover, it makes 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, jumps of three horsepower and 14 pound-feet over the 2.5-liter unit in the older WRX. Subaru says this version will scoot from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds."
Both models have impressive machinery under the hood. The WRX uses a CVT gearbox to change performance modes. The sport and sport sharp modes, for instance, mimic having six- and eight-gear transmission, which significantly boosts performance. Combined with all-wheel drive and torque-vectoring, it handles like a dream. The STI also features the added bonus of a hydraulic steering system, large alloy wheels, and stronger brakes.
The vehicle interiors are impressive enough, but the chassis manages to complete the package. The WRX has a stiffened aluminum with a scooped hood which, when combined with the large bumper and intimidating quarter panels, makes it look like it just drove off the set of a racing movie. The STI has all of that and a trunk-mounted wing to keep it grounded at high speeds.
For those who like muscle and moxie in their vehicles, the WRX and STI models are worthy purchases. They're serviceable enough for a family's daily use, but can still burn some rubber. Consider these and other exciting models at leading Subaru dealerships in New Orleans, LA as well as in Baton Rouge, Covington, and other nearby locations. Baldwin Subaru is located in Covington, LA and has been serving the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas since 1950.
