Crossover SUVs come and go in this highly competitive automotive market. For car manufacturer Subaru, however, faith and confidence in the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek remains solid among conscientious car shoppers looking for versatility that doesn't snub comfort.
To clear any potential confusion about the Crosstrek, however, Subaru has recently retired the Hybrid version, supplanted by a new mid-level trim known as the premium Special Edition.
What to Expect
This crossover SUV is as practical as practical gets. The standard trim features a 2.0-liter, flat-four engine that produces 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a five-speed, manual transmission, paired with a viscous coupling all-wheel-drive system with locking center differential.
An automatic, continuously variable transmission (CVT) is optional on the basic model, as well as premium models. With the Limited trim, however, CVT comes standard. These come with an electronically managed CVT clutch system as well.
Whatever option you choose, manual or CVT, you can expect power-steering capabilities that enhance your driving and handling experience.
Outdoor Comfort
When it comes to outdoor performance, the Crosstrek excels with its versatility and reliability, traits that everyone inside the vehicle can enjoy. The roads may be rough, but the interior's design ensures comfort for all, whether driver, passenger, or even a pet.
Seating is lofty, plush and comfy, while legroom is not neglected, even for taller adults. If you’re travelling as a group, you can load as many as four adults comfortably, but you can squeeze in a fifth person without causing discomfort.
Cargo space in the back proves generous, but should your active lifestyle require more space, just fold down the 60/40 collapsible rear seats to accommodate more stuff.
As for command control, the multifunctional display resting in the middle of the dashboard provides ergonomic access to analog gauges. Everything is in order and uncluttered, resulting in a safe driving environment, free of dashboard distractions.
Safety Technology
Speaking of safety, the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek has incorporated the new EyeSight safety system. EyeSight hosts a variety of driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and collision warning, among other features.
Crosstek’s features earned it “good” scores all around from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, thereby making it an easy Top Safety PIck. The inclusion of EyeSight greatly contributed to its final report card rating of 8/10. When it’s your safety on the line, you don't want to settle for anything less.
There are plenty more good things to learn about the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. To gain a much closer look, drop by Subaru dealerships serving McComb, MS and other nearby areas.
