Remember how the 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX concept looked when it was unveiled during last year's NYC International Auto Show? The much-anticipated 2016 version reportedly looks like it, only way cooler. As Digital Trends' Andrew Hard reports in his article, Subaru chief designer Mamoru Ishii stated that "[t]he lauded concept's sporty, aggressive stance will indeed reach production and is due to appear on the all-new Impreza due in 2016, and the WRX that will follow."

Set to hit various leading New Orleans, LA Subaru dealerships (not to mention all others nationwide)-including Covington's Baldwin Subaru-the highly anticipated design is described as a sexy, WRX-y thing by Motor Trend's Peter Lyon. Speaking to Ishii, Lyon learned that Subaru is taking the next-generation Impreza's design that the company's reportedly sure to excite the marketplace. Ishii detailed several design plans, saying that they're planning to give the lower section below the hip line a wider, more substantial stance; and narrow up the car's roof section.
But while Ishii's remarks are credible enough, all everyone could do for now is guess. Here's a quick overview of how the 2013 concept version looks, as seen at last year's New York Auto Show and reviewed by TopSpeed.com:
The concept for the 2013 Impreza sports a larger and bolder grille, with a three-dimensional mesh pattern and a large power bulge that indicates something special underneath is lurking. It also offers new hawk-eye shaped headlights, and a carbon fiber roof designed to reduce the car's weight. It is slightly lower than its predecessors, with the center of gravity situated much closer to the pavement underneath. For the rear fixtures, the vehicle concept features a beautifully curved trunk lid, a wider rear bumper, and big quad tail pipes that scream racing all around.
Overall, TopSpeed.com describes the concept's look as an aggressive one, which is greatly amplified by a striking WR Blue Pearl III exterior paintjob, combined with fluorescent yellow hues on the front grille, brake calipers, and exhaust tip endings. Other trimmings like the sleek, muscular lines make it look like Subaru is jumping on the so-called "four-door coupe" bandwagon, as noted by Digital Trends' Stephen Edelstein.
With what's been laid down, car enthusiasts are sure to step up their expectations once the vehicle gets introduced to the public and hits New Orleans Subaru dealerships two years from now. With how the 2013 concept's design was received by critics, it's not hard to comprehend why people would expect more from its successor's looks - especially with the hints that Subaru itself revealed.
