There are instances that an enthusiasm for affordable sports cars will mean attempting to buy a special version of one particular vehicle ahead of everybody else. Casey Williams of the Indianapolis Star writes:
Imagine Subaru and you probably see its famous blue paint color. But, with the BRZ sports car, Blue is the name of a cool trim package that makes an already special car like a one-hoofed unicorn.
And only 1,000 will be seen.
Born of a joint-venture between Subaru and Toyota, the BRZ and Scion FR-S share design and architecture with a Subaru heart. Toyota's team did much of the engineering, but the engine and assembly were undertaken by Subaru.
Normally, people think of the more exotic American and foreign marquees when they are asked what comes to mind upon mention of the word "sports car." Oftentimes, acceleration and high speeds are the best attributes they want in searching for one. Still, some sports car enthusiasts just want a special steed that goes toe-to-toe with others in its weight class and handles well-one that sellers of a Subaru near New Orleans like Baldwin Subaru may be waiting for you to drive home.
The Looks
The BRZ Series Blue does take the standard BRZ style and runs wild with it. You have a choice of WR Blue Pearl or Crystal White Pearl paint, plus stainless-steel exhausts, accentuated wheel wells, a low air-dam and black side molding skirts. A closer look at the interior will reveal blue streaks on the steering wheel trim and Alcantara-suede upholstery. It also has Subaru Technica International's (STi) stamp of approval, with STI-branded 17-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers.
Smooth As Silk
Current BRZ users may swear by its handling as one of its selling points. Williams said the Blue's two-liter, 200-horsepower Boxer 4 engine had a low center of gravity. This resulted in optimum flexibility through the car's electronic stability control systems, a Torsen rear limited-slip differential, and antilock brakes. A six-speed manual transmission was also easy to move, he said.
The BRZ still boasts of ample fuel efficiency for a car weighing almost one and half tons. You can expect 25 miles per gallon on city driving and 34mpg on the highway.
If the above has well piqued your interest, you might want to line up now given the very limited inventory. If you're fine admiring it only from afar, though, and instead get another Subaru model, then you can head over to trusted New Orleans, LA area Subaru dealerships like Baldwin Subaru to pick out your preferred ride.
