Subaru of America Delivered on the 2022 Subaru BRZ near New Orleans LA

POWERTRAIN

Before the recent reveal of the latest generation BRZ, rumors of what type of engine it would contain had been flying like leaves in the wind. Both in opposition to and in agreement with those rumors (about the use of the FA24 turbocharged flat-four), is the BRZ's use of a naturally aspirated, 2.4 liter flat four that puts out 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Yes! More power! But even better- the torque comes into play much lower in the rev-range than it did in the prior model. The new motor delivers peak torque at 3700 rpm- which seriously beats the old BRZ's 6400 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a standard six-speed stick, although there is an available six-speed automatic with paddle shifters and a new Sport mode.

According to Subaru the 2022 BRZ has a much stiffer chassis, which will improve agility and make it more nimble. It will also continue to be the only Subaru model that has a rear-wheel drive layout instead of Subaru's famous AWD. With the new five-mode traction control you're in charge of how tight and snappy you want your drive to be.

2022 Subaru BRZ near New Orleans LA: EXTERIOR

The 2+2 coupe (2 front seats plus two small ones behind them) is about an inch longer and a half inch lower than the old model, giving it a sleeker, yet more rakish look. The most dramatic change in appearance for the 2022 Subaru BRZ near New Orleans LA is the addition of large functional air intakes within the front fascia, and narrower headlights. More design modifications are the lowered grille with pronounced fenders, large and practical side vents, and a roofline with design cues from vintage racing cars, according to the company.

The more aggressive look continues at the rear of the car with larger rear fenders, small fins on the wheel arches that also add grip, the upturned spoiler on the trunk lid, and dual exhaust ports. New multi spoke wheels round out the exterior looks and are complimented by a cool set of side rocker panels that lead to scalloped side ducts for additional down force. The base model, Premium, comes with all-season tires mounted on 17-inch wheels, and the Limited version boasts 18-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.

INTERIOR

Inside the 2022 Subaru BRZ near New Orleans LA there's a new 7.0 inch digital gauge cluster that can be customized to display data like a water temperature gauge and a g-force meter. The old 6.2-inch touchscreen has been swapped for an 8-inch StarLink infotainment touchscreen in the center of the cockpit. Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability give you access to all the vital functions, and digital-face knobs below it control the AC.

The 2022 Subaru BRZ near New Orleans LA is an excellent and affordable little sports car in an eye-catching design that promises lots of fun. If you plan to use it as your only form of getting around, you're in luck because there's a spacious trunk that's roomy enough for weekend trips. Fold down those back seats and you can fit a lot of sports equipment, too.

Subaru's EyeSight suite of driver assist and safety features is available for the BRZ, but not needed. If you want the pure essence of fun driving (which is the soul of the BRZ), you don't need all the options. The most affordable BRZ will deliver just as much fun as a full-loaded model. It won't be here until fall 2021, but when it arrives, be the first to test drive the new Subaru BRZ at Baldwin Subaru, 1730 N. Highway 190 in Covington LA.
